Young mathematicians can enjoy almost unlimited opportunities in their futures, since careers that require math abilities are growing everyday. People that are math savvy work in career fields such as all areas of Research and Development, Engineering and Construction, Pharmacology and Medicine, Planning and Surveying, Finance and Insurance and in all Science Fields.

Most math related careers, unless it is in academics, usually involve math skills and another subject, such as math ability and geography for Planning and Land Use.

Therefore, if your child has exceptional math skills and enjoys an additional subject, they might want to think about what they can do when they grow up that includes their favorite subject.

These are just a few of the infinite opportunities ahead for your child if they succeed in mathematics. Like music and second language studies, children are especially successful if they can learn math basics at a young age.

If you have a young child, even as young as three or four you can begin teaching your child math concepts. By four or five, they can learn their numbers and number relationships, and by five or six, they can do basic math functions like addition and subtraction. It is important to address math not just in terms of memorization of common functions but by concepts and by helping them grasp abstract ideas.
